UMass Boston is currently sitting with a record of 1-2, after a road loss at Salve Regina, a road win at Nichols and a loss in its home opener to MIT.
There is one player worth watching above all others this season, for his selflessness and leadership almost as much as his playing ability: graduate student Gavin Admirand (Marshfield, Mass.).
Admirand, a transfer to Division 3 UMB from Division 1 Merrimack College during his sophomore year, ended last season with 58 goals and 39 assists. This season, he figures to receive all kinds of attention from opponents.
“Above all else, Gavin is a hard competitor," said UMB coach Tyler Low. "He hates to lose, and that comes out in practice and the weight room every day. It is infectious to those around him.
