
During the first week of preseason practice, Chad Palumbo couldn’t run from the midline to the end line without stopping.
Flash forward three months to the Independent School League championship game, and the Noble and Greenough senior standout couldn’t stop scoring. Palumbo’s four goals in that 16-8 win over Governor’s secured the program’s first ISL championship since 2018, and the first one ever in the new playoff era.
It was a storybook ending to this chapter of Palumbo’s lacrosse career before he begins a new one this fall at Princeton, and it was preceded by a scary cancer diagnosis last summer.
In August, Palumbo and Matt Rowley, his coach at Nobles, joined New England Lacrosse Journal’s “Chasing The Goal” podcast to break down the cancer scare, the comeback and the ultimate triumph at the end.
