In 2022, the Billerica Memorial (Mass.) High School boys lacrosse team had its best season in recent memory.
Finishing 7-1 in the Merrimack Valley Conference and 18-5 overall, the Indians' dominant offense blew the doors off their competition en route to a date with Longmeadow in the MIAA Division 2 final.
Unfortunately, despite a top effort, Billerica fell in the championship -- in as close a game as could be, 9-8 in double overtime.
Reflecting on 2022, and now in his fourth year with the team, head coach Ryan Nickerson feels confident about his team this spring after how it embraced that defeat.
