It started as a laugh and became a running joke.
As best friends Gabby Lauretani and Grace Winkler began making a name for themselves as lacrosse players, they’d get predictable questions from their Ridgefield (Conn.) High School classmates.
“People would always ask us if we were going to go to college together,” said Lauretani. “We always said yes as a joke, but we didn’t think it would really happen.”
Turns out they were the ones who got the last laugh.
