Two Division 1 programs in Massachusetts will have new head coaches for the 2020 season, as announced in recent days.
Nearly two months after parting ways with Chris Wojcik, Harvard has found its next men's lacrosse coach in Gerry Byrne, a longtime assistant coach at Notre Dame. Meanwhile, UMass Lowell has turned to former Harvard coach Lisa Miller (Danvers, Mass.) as the program's next women's lacrosse coach, taking over the reigns from Carissa Medeiros (New Bedford, Mass.).
Both coaches enter programs in need of a turnaround, as Harvard hasn't made the Ivy League tournament since 2016. The Crimson seemed on track to advance that far in 2018 and 2019, only to end the season with five- and four-game losing streaks, respectively.
