High school lacrosse players across the region absorbed a collective stomach punch when states canceled spring seasons over COVID-19, one after another.
Max Ewald was equipped to handle the disappointment better than most.
The Buckingham Browne and Nichols defender knew the drill. A year earlier, his promising sophomore season was wiped out after one scrimmage when he severed a tendon in his wrist in an accident.
Voted a captain by his teammates as a junior, Ewald was hoping to lead an improved BB&N team upward in the Independent School League standings. Instead, everyone watched from the sidelines.
