Zac Tucci (Bedford, N.H.) went undrafted despite a 54-percent faceoff percentage and a team-high 61 ground balls at North Carolina this season, but the Waterdogs signed him from the PLL player pool three days later, and he made the 25-man roster out of training camp.
In the second week of the season, while Tucci was home studying for the SIE exam, incumbent faceoff Jake Withers went down injured.
It was tough to see a friend get hurt, particularly someone Tucci said really showed him the ropes of what it means to be a professional, but it meant he would debut.
In his first three games, he won 46 percent of his faceoffs, picked up 16 ground balls and tallied an assist.
