The Denver Outlaws are the defending Major League Lacrosse champions, but they came into the 2017 season with concerns on the defensive end. Two starting defenders retired, and the team used five picks in the supplemental draft on defenders without any pro-game experience.
Finn Sullivan (West Roxbury, Mass.) was one of those picks and he earned a starting position. Through late July, Denver was first in the league in the standings and second in goals allowed per game (11.7). Sullivan had played in all 11 games, picking up 27 ground balls and causing a team-high seven turnovers.
