An All-State selection as a senior at Ridgefield (Conn.) High School, Cal Dearth blazed a new trail as Boston University began its Division 1 lacrosse program.
Dearth led the team in points every season except his junior year and, as a senior, set single-season program records in goals (38) and points (57). He also graduated as the program’s career leader in assists. He’s a three-time first-team All-Patriot League selection and was an All-American as a senior.
Major League Lacrosse’s Charlotte Hounds made Dearth the first BU player drafted into the professional league when they selected him in the fourth round with their 31st pick. Dearth then was traded to the Boston Cannons last month for a fourth-round draft pick next year. This interview was conducted before the trade.
