In the main event, Sam Apuzzo and the U.S. Women’s Team finished the job they so desperately wanted to finish.
In the undercard, Olivia Hompe (New Canaan, Conn.) reminded us again how desperately difficult she is to defend.
The first World Lacrosse Women’s World Championship in five years concluded Saturday in Towson, Md. The gold medal game saw former Boston College star Apuzzo and Marie McCool each score three goals to lead Team USA to an 11-8 win over second-ranked Canada.
The top-ranked and favored U.S. led from start to finish, though never by more than four goals. Apuzzo, a former Tewaaraton Award winner, also contributed two assists to earn Player of the Match honors.
