It started with a bet.
New Hampton School senior goalie Jimmy McCool (West Roxbury, Mass.) is rarely at a loss for words, and sometimes those words land him in predicaments.
After playing football at the school as a freshman, he got into a discussion with a former classmate about the merits —or lack of them — of the soccer team. If it’s so easy, he was challenged, go try to make it.
“I was talking smack that (making the) soccer team was not that hard,” said McCool. “He bet me I couldn’t make the team so I went out and did it.”
