This Memorial Day weekend, the men's lacrosse championships will ship down to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa., following back-to-back years at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
Also that weekend? Mitch Wykoff's 21st birthday. The Gettysburg junior defenseman and co-captain is already thinking of what could be.
"That'd be an excellent birthday present," Wykoff (Fairfield, Conn.) said of potentially winning. "Doesn't get much better than that."
Wykoff's wish is just that – hopeful yearning – but also not out of the realm of possibilities for the reigning Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-American. Last year, he had 92 ground balls, good for 10th-most in a single season in Gettysburg history and the most by any player since Jimmy Gates in 2007.
