There were some strange looks in the Villanova stands last April when Danny Seibel (Wakefield, Mass.), a key player on the men’s lacrosse team, gave a loud cheer after a key late goal led Georgetown to a tight win in a Big East game between the schools’ women’s teams.
Seibel, a Villanova captain this year, had some explaining to do. But home fans who checked the program would realize that the applause was directed at Hannah Seibel, his cousin, with whom he shares a special bond.
"Yeah, I actually got some stares being in the Villanova crowd and cheering for her," Danny said.
When it comes to the Seibels, a two-generation lacrosse clan whose roots go back to the 1970s in Brookline, Mass., the extended family dynamic always is intense, whether it’s rooting for each other or trying to knock each other down a peg in a pickup game.
