NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Fall ball is a good time to try new things. In that process, scrimmages play a significant role. It is the first opportunity before the start of the season for teams to play an outside foe.
Scrimmages, however, aren't actual games. They are prolonged practices. While it's true that athletes get to compete and coaches get to give instructions, the final standings don't really capture what teams get from the experience.
However, you can get a few nuggets of information from attending the fall ball tilts.
That is why I went to multiple scrimmages involving Merrimack, Providence College, Boston University and Brown that were played on the Merrimack campus this weekend. Here are my BU and Brown takeaways.
