NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Fall ball is a time for experimentation. Scrimmages are a big part of that process. It’s the first chance for teams to face an external opponent before their season begins.
However, scrimmages aren't real games. They’re just extended practices. Sure, players get to compete and coaches get to instruct, but the final scores don’t actually reflect what teams get out of the experience.
So, with those caveats in mind, I attended several scrimmages held on Merrimack College's campus between the Warriors, Providence College, Boston University and Brown.
Here are some takeaways from Merrimack and Providence. BU and Brown will be examined in a later post.
