FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fall ball scrimmages are underway in earnest across the country, as college lacrosse programs begin honing their identity and getting into shape for the spring.
On Saturday, Fairfield hosted Marist College and the University of Vermont for a round-robin mini-tournament. Each team played two games, taking the opportunity to get a look at the presumed starters playing against competition from another school, and looking at young players and backups in a game environment.
As expected for mid-October, all three programs had a mix of good and bad on the day. And all three are undoubtedly improved as a result.
Here are some takeaways from Saturday's action.
