On Sunday, the boys lacrosse team at New Hampton School will conclude its fall practice session with a scrimmage against Tilton.
There won’t be reporters at the game, or a Lakes Region League title at stake. But after losing entire seasons last spring, and not knowing when they’d be able to return to the field, coaches and players are appreciating what they’ve been able to experience and accomplish these last several weeks.
“We’ve been so lucky up here in the Lakes Region,” New Hampton coach Ryan Henry said this week. “Obviously, the state that we’re in (New Hampshire) plays a lot into it, but what we’ve been able to accomplish this fall is so much more than we would have been able to in other places.”
It’s a sentiment echoed in a lot of programs, even those whose state COVID-19 protocols kept them on the sidelines longer or limited what they were able to do.
