MANCHESTER, N.H. -- The practice starts with one perfect jumping jack. Then the warm-ups have concluded and the entire Saint Anselm College team racks into formation for stickwork drills.
It’s the penultimate scrimmage before the team’s fall ball game against MIT, and coach Mike Sciamanna and his staff are all business.
Saint Anselm College had its best season in the history of the program in 2021, going 13-2 overall. The Hawks got to the Northeast-10 final after going undefeated (save a game against Division 1 Dartmouth that was officially classified as s scrimmage) in the regular season.
The Hawks then lost to Le Moyne, 9-4. St. A’s was then selected as the at-large bid for the NCAA Division 2 playoff bracket and defeated Seton Hill in overtime to advance to the quarterfinals where they were, once again, downed by eventual national champion Le Moyne, 11-7.
