The hole left by Rashad Devoe’s departure from Amherst is just a little bit closer to being filled.
After an apoplectic situation came to a head, Amherst was left, once again, with a coaching vacancy -- this time after not even fielding a team in 2021. However, NESCAC jobs -- even ones dangling in a kind of tragic limbo -- are coveted in the coaching community and will attract plenty of candidates.
Amherst spent years battling to be a top team in the NESCAC, reaching the Division 3 championship game in 2019, but after waiting so long to resolve its coaching situation it has effectively missed out on a huge chunk of the recruiting season despite yeoman’s work done by the assistant coaches who stayed on.
