It's hard to gauge, but we may be looking at Connecticut’s greatest boys lacrosse dynasty. What’s not hard is determining who is in the conversation: Darien was the CIAC’s first true dynasty when it took six consecutive titles — one in Division 1 and five in Class M — from 2005 to 2010, and while there were a few hiccups against Wilton in 2011 and ’13, the Blue Wave have never really lost their position as Connecticut’s "team to beat."
What stands out about this current dynasty, however, is that the Blue Wave are the team to beat, and nobody can beat them.
For a second consecutive season, and for the third time in four years, Darien celebrated both a state title and an undefeated campaign on the pitch at Brien McMahon High. Its fourth title in as many seasons came in a 16-3 decision over Cheshire and extended the Blue Wave’s winning streak to 55 games, the longest active streak in the nation.
