It’s surprising to hear it now, yet there was a time when Assumption midfielder Amanda Burns (Billerica, Mass.) didn’t believe she’d contribute much in her freshman season in Worcester.
"At first, I didn’t think I’d have that well of a season, but after coming here for a while, the team made me feel comfortable," Burns said. "Once I adjusted to the different things of the game, I felt comfortable and I was able to play up to my full potential."
To say Burns simply felt comfortable out on the field would be an understatement. The 5-foot-2 sophomore exploded onto the scene last season, leading the Greyhounds with 39 goals and ranking second in the Northeast-10 with 71 draw controls. These numbers, along with her 55 points, 15 caused turnovers, and 25 ground balls, led to NE-10 All-Rookie Team honors.
Senior attacker Caitlin Graves (Ashland, Mass.) praised Burns for her ability to make big plays in key moments.
