It is pretty clear to Derryfield School girls lacrosse coach Mellissa Catenza why her team lost to Kearsarge in the championship this season.
"They wanted it more," Catenza said.
Kearsarge avenged its loss in last year’s title game by defeating top-seeded Derryfield, 10-8, to win its first state championship and complete a postseason run built on upsets.
Kearsarge entered the playoffs as the No. 6 seed. The team defeated two-time defending champion and thirdseeded Laconia, 7-6, in the quarterfinals before taking down secondseeded Bow, 8-4, in the semifinals.
