Kyle Denhoff had pretty much spent his entire life in upstate New York.
He was a star lacrosse player at Penfield High School. He went on to score 132 career goals at St. John Fisher College in nearby Rochester. He then played the first five seasons of his Major League Lacrosse career with the Rochester Rattlers.
He married a local girl and may well have continued to be a local guy for years to come until a confluence of events took him from upstate New York to Boston.
The process started a couple of years ago, when he and his wife began thinking outside of Rochester for the first time in their lives together.
"We were both born and raised in Rochester," he said. "We both decided that we wanted to move to a bigger city. We had friends in Boston who we would visit every year — and always loved it — and one time just said: ‘Let’s do it. Let’s move to Boston.’"
