When we went down to the Naptown Showcase in Annapolis this past summer, one of the goalies who stood out the most was Andy Demopoulos,
The Darien (Conn.) HS standout was part of an Eclipse squad that won the top 2021 bracket, and Demopoulos was simply dominant for pretty much the entire tournament, which had about as much talent as you could ask for.
Recently, Demopoulos and one of his teammates with the Blue Wave, attackman Holt Matheis, made their college decisions. Demopoulos committed to Johns Hopkins, and Matheis, also a 2021 prospect, pledged to Georgetown.
Darien is a program with one of the best track records in the country as a perennial nationally-ranked powerhouse and consistent contender in the highly-competitive Fairfield County Interscholastic Conference. Although Darien lost in the FCIAC tournament last spring to Wilton, the Blue Wave returned the favor in the state tournament to win Class L.
