The last time a women's program from New England qualified for the NCAA Division 2 tournament it was New Haven. The Chargers defeated Mercy in the opening round of the 2017 tournament.
This year the Chargers look to be at the front of the pack in New England in a Division 2 landscape with one less team after Merrimack's jump to Division 1 last fall.
While the region will be led by teams in the Northeast-10, programs from across Division 2 have the skill and firepower to leave a mark on the 2020 season.
With all that, these are five women's teams to watch in Division 2 as the season fully ramps up this weekend.
