D1 women’s poll: Big Green take over top spot

By Scott SouzaFebruary 18, 2020

Dartmouth is the new number one this week (John and Matt Risley/Dartmouth Athletics)

The highlight of the weekend slate took place in Amherst where Dartmouth was able to use a second-half surge to get past  top-ranked UMass and cause a shakeup at the top of this week’s New England Lacrosse Journal Division I poll.

Dartmouth’s triumph was one of four for the region’s Ivy League schools as Brown, Dartmouth, Harvard and Yale combined to go 4-0.  Boston College and Boston University both followed up their game against each other in winning fashion.

There is also a newcomer to this week’s poll sporting a 2-0 start against a pair of fellow New England squads.

This weekend’s games that pit Dartmouth against BU, and UConn vs. New Hampshire, will be big in shaping the poll in upcoming weeks.
