First, a hearty congratulations to the co-champion of the MAAC, Quinnipiac.
The Bobcats started the season with a disappointing 13-6 loss to fledgling program St. Bonaventure but swiftly avenged it with a 5-4 win. They then went on to string together three straight wins in the middle of their season before falling to Marist this past week. Unfortunately, Quinnipiac is ineligible to participate in the MAAC championship due to COVID protocols.
Looking at the Big East standings, it was tough to see Providence qualifying for the tournament -- but then Villanova lost to Denver in overtime, and all of a sudden the Friars were in thanks to goal differential being the tiebreaker with Marquette.
