Brown became something of a sweetheart team in 2022. The Bears started 5-1 before dropping three straight games to Harvard, UMass and Princeton.
But just when everyone thought it was safe to stop talking about Bruno — er, Brown — they caught fire. The Bears won five straight, including league games against Penn, Yale, Cornell and Dartmouth, climbing into the top 10 of the national polls.
By May, they had reached “nobody wants to play this team” status. Ultimately, their season would end in the NCAA tournament, falling to Virginia in front of an electric crowd in Providence, R.I.
That ’22 team was senior heavy, and this spring, the Bears will need new faces to step into prominent roles. They return their leading scorer, Devon McLane, but the next four graduated. A defense that was senior-heavy also will have a new look.
