Darien celebrates yet another CIAC title.
In 2018, the Darien High School boys lacrosse team’s streak of four consecutive state championships was snapped when it lost to Ridgefield in the CIAC Class L championship game. The loss also snapped an unbeaten streak of 76 games.
The team was motivated to get back to the top of the mountain in 2019.
“I don’t want to say it was more motivating because they’re always motivated, but the seniors were excited to right the ship, even though I don’t think the ship was that far off course,” Darien coach Jeff Brameier said. “People didn’t respect the talent level of our seniors. We had 17 seniors that wanted to prove them wrong.
