The Class L girls bracket in Connecticut felt like a Darien vs. New Canaan collision course.
Darien, the top overall seed, entered the state tournament undefeated and kept rolling, beating Fairfield Ludlowe, Greenwich and Wilton by a combined score of 49-8.
New Canaan came into the state tournament with two losses, one at the hands of Darien and the other against Victor (N.Y.). The Rams romped through Staples, South Windsor and Ridgefield by a combined 50-17 score.
The Blue Wave and Rams were jostling back and forth at the top of state rankings all year, as well as in the national rankings, as both battled for spots above the other in the Top 10 in America.
