In case you missed Thursday’s announcement, four of the top prep school teams in the country will be capping their seasons with a short tournament.
Brunswick School (Conn.), Deerfield Academy (Mass.), Salisbury School (Conn.) and the Lawrenceville School (N.J.) are those programs. Deerfield (No. 1), Brunswick (No. 3) and Salisbury (No. 6) all finished high in New England Lacrosse Journal's year-ending rankings of the region's best teams.
A press release is, so far, the only source of info for this new event, which also has its own Twitter and Instagram accounts. For now, it seems, these four teams will be locked into this year-end battle with Brunswick hosting the first championship in the spring of 2022.
The teams are set to play in semifinal games where their positions will be determined based on their head-to-head record against one another during the regular season. The first game will take place “either Friday, May 20, or Saturday, May 21, and the championship game will be held on Sunday, May 22 (with more details to come).
