Colter Olson is 6-foot-2 and 180-plus pounds of power. A thundering swingman who can play both midfield and attack, Olson committed to Air Force last week.
A native of Yarmouth, Maine, he forced his way onto college coaches' boards with his zeal for dodging and shooting acumen. Still, Olson was surprised when he got the call from Air Force assistant Jon Thompson.
"My passion for aviation and lacrosse made committing to the United States Air Force Academy an obvious choice," said Olson. "The path for me started with a phone call I missed from coach Thompson on the 21st of July. I thought it was just another spam call, but when I checked my voice mail and heard, 'Hey, Colter, this is coach Jon Thompson from the United States Air Force Academy.' I screamed so loudly I nearly gave my dog a heart attack."
Olson's club coach, New Hampshire Tomahawks' Chris Cameron, advised Olson to wait until September first to make his decision. But when the right school calls, it's hard to say no.
