In Connecticut, conference championships were decided last week and the stage is set for the four state tournaments.
After a very chalky quarterfinal round, the FCIAC delivered its usual drama and surprises in the semifinals. Staples avenged a regular-season loss to New Canaan with an 11-5 win, actually racing ahead 10-0.

Darien beat Ridgefield in the other semifinal, 9-8. It came down to the last play of the game, where Ridgefield had a look at goal in the closing seconds but the shot missed wide.
