In the ultra-competitive Founders League, one of the top prep school lacrosse conferences in the country, there is no shame in remaining in the middle of the pack.
Even so, Ethan McDonnell, head of the boys program at the esteemed Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Conn., has always demanded more. This past season, his team undeniably made that leap.
McDonnell is an alumnus of Choate (Class of 2009) and a former elite lacrosse player at the school. He returned to Choate as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator in 2013, and was elevated to head coach of the Wild Boars in 2020.
His first season in the big chair was immediately hindered, of course, by the pandemic.
