Last spring, the Atlantic Coast Conference produced two of the top four teams in the end-of-season polls: No. 1 Syracuse and No. 4 North Carolina.

This coming spring, both those teams will have a strong New England presence in their captains’ seats.

Last week, North Carolina announced its five captains, four of whom boast strong underpinnings in New England. The group includes fifth-year seniors Cam Macri (Hamilton, Mass./Governor’s) and William Perry (Greenwich, Conn.), plus senior defender Sean Morris (Stamford, Conn./Brunswick School) and former Boston University standout Chris Gray.
