A founding franchise in Major League Lacrosse was the final one to hoist its championship trophy.
Now, while the “Cannons” name survives as the lone MLL franchise absorbed into the Premier Lacrosse League landscape following a merger of the leagues announced in December, there is plenty of uncertainty about how much of Boston will go with it as part of the new Cannons Lacrosse Club.
The team’s offices remained open in Quincy, Mass., in early February, with the Cannons’ staff working with the PLL to ensure a smooth transition of the squad’s tradition-rich pedigree into the PLL’s fledgling — and surely evolving — league and business model.
