SMITHFIELD, R.I. — The Bulldog Brawl was my second stop on the summer showcase tour for New England Lacrosse Journal.
There were a number of local teams competing for the event’s ‘26 and ‘27 championships on the campus of Bryant University in the fading days of June.
The range of clubs was quite impressive, with squads like the Fighting Clams, Penguins, R.I. Bulldogs, Team CT and 4 Leaf, as well as Coyotes and Laxachusetts. When you combine that amount of players with over two dozen coaches who attended the event, the Bulldog Brawl was the premier tournament in the region on that weekend.
With the Class of ‘26, I went through and picked out standouts from some of the teams that may not have gotten as much column space as those from earlier events. With the ‘27s, I went a little harder in the paint, as this event was a great showcase for some of the club teams that specifically didn’t make it to Legacy. We’re going to burn through all of those standouts this week.
