The gridiron doesn’t stray too far from the lacrosse turf. Often, they’re the same surface.
For Tom Kennedy, that rings true maybe more than anyone. The Bryant University midfielder spends a lot of time at Bulldog Stadium, maybe more time than any of his teammates. In the spring, he’s catching passes and dodging to the net to score. In the fall, he catches different kinds of passes.
"Last year around this time during mini-camp, I asked Coach (Mike) Pressler if he’d allow me to play football again," Kennedy said. "He gave me the opportunity once, and I wasn’t expecting him to give me the opportunity again. But he said whatever I decided to do, he supported it."
Kennedy initially was recruited to Bryant for lacrosse and football. After playing football his freshman season, he set his sights toward lacrosse fulltime. But about a year ago, the itch to play football returned, and suddenly he was spending a lot more time at Bulldog Stadium again.
