When Michael Panepinto starred at Needham (Mass.) High School, college lacrosse wasn't in his future.
He originally planned on playing football at Harvard, a process that prompted a postgraduate year at Phillips Andover Academy. But as a brief prep school career neared, Panepinto's outlook shifted.
Steve Moreland, now head coach at Governor's Academy, helped that along, reassuring the Needham, Mass., native that he could play at the next level.
"He was asking if he could play, but he didn't have lacrosse highlight film really," Moreland, former Andover coach said. "I told him to use his football film, it's compelling, send that and copy me. My phone started lighting up. He got himself recruited, bottom line.
