Though he was a talented lacrosse player from Connecticut, Brendan King didn’t play for one of the state’s powerhouses.
King, now a 6-foot, 170-pound senior at Ithaca, played four years at Fairfield Warde High School. The Mustangs regularly play the likes of New Canaan, Darien and Ridgefield, programs with serious clout on the high school lacrosse scene.
But the Fairfield, Conn., native rapidly improved against the CIAC's toughest opponents, twice earning all-conference honors.
“My team wasn’t the strongest in the area, so I played against some better competition,” King said.
