Breaking down the 2019 Boston Cannons roster

During preseason, Boston Cannons head coach Sean Quirk said he watched 65 players march through Veterans Stadium in Quincy, Mass., vying for a roster spot. By the June 1 season opener, that will be whittled down to a 20-man game-day roster to take on the New York Lizards.

An experienced attack and midfield, a youthful defense, an incumbent goaltender and a brand-new face in the faceoff spot will make up this year’s squad trying to compete for a championship in the reshuffled Major League Lacrosse.

Earlier this week, a 25-man active roster was announced, along with a college inactive list and a practice squad.

Here’s a look at how the local MLL side is shaping up, with a position-by-position breakdown for the first weeks of summer.
