Since boys lacrosse players in the class of 2028 became eligible to commit to Division 1 programs on Sept. 9, we've seen some of New England's most talented prospects pledge to schools all around the country.
Landen O'Neil's commitment to Duke, which he announced on Saturday evening, was a big one. The Tabor Academy star is widely considered the No. 1 recruit in the nation.
His process encapsulated how everyone's approach to Sept. 9 is different. We saw three players commit on the day recruiting opened, followed by the 34 other commits I tracked in the initial wave of decisions reflected in our live tracker. Even more have committed since then.
Still, there are a lot of names left on the board. And as players like O'Neil finalize their decisions, we'll likely see a second wave of commitments as colleges round out the top of their classes.
But as I've covered throughout the beginning of this new window, the recruiting process for the class of 2028 comes with a lot of unknowns. New NCAA eligibility rules are shrinking recruiting classes and forcing programs to operate differently. We'll continue to see how this affects the '28s into October.
So, who is still available? I highlighted 13 players who project to be Division 1 prospects that have yet to commit to a program. These are by no means the only players who might be getting interest in New England, but are just the ones on my radar.
