Will Bowen didn't care for the question.
On the first day of tryouts in mid-March, with snow surrounding the turf field at Boston College High, Bowen (Cohasset, Mass.) was asked — for the final time before the official start of his final high school season — to reflect on his team’s back-to-back losses to Lincoln-Sudbury in the Division 1 state championship game.
"All through the last two offseasons, that’s been in the back of our minds," Bowen said. "To be out here today, it’s a good feeling."
Having Bowen on the BC High roster for one more season certainly is a good feeling for his teammates and coaches. Bowen is a classic imposing physical specimen (6-foot-3, 220 pounds) who seems to have been thriving in high school forever. Of note:
▸ Bowen committed to play lacrosse at the University of North Carolina before ever taking the field for BC High as a freshman.
▸ He earned a rare opportunity to start as a freshman by the end of his team’s run to the Division 1 South final.
▸ He earned Eastern Mass. All-America honors as a sophomore and took BC High to its first Division 1 state final appearance.
▸ He was a captain as a junior and again earned All-America honors while taking the team to a state championship game.
