Sacred Heart men’s lacrosse coach John Basti feels his team has the right motto entering the new Division 1 season.
“The motto we started was, ‘Be water,’” he said. “That was Bruce Lee’s motto. We adopted that. We don’t know what’s going to happen. Everybody needs to be prepared. Even if you’re not on the travel list in game one, somebody could get COVID, and other guys are contact tracing, and you’re playing in game two.”
Lee, the late martial arts icon, was credited with these words of wisdom: “Empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless — like water. You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle.”
