CONCORD, Mass. – In a matchup loaded with swings in momentum, Governor's Academy defeated Middlesex in the first round of the Independent School League playoffs on Wednesday, 16-6.
With the win, fifth-seeded Governor's advances to the semifinal round on Saturday – against eighth-seeded Tabor – while also getting to taste revenge.
In the regular season, Middlesex had downed Governor’s in overtime, 12-11. But in the playoffs, Governor’s came out firing on all cylinders.
Governor’s got things started, scoring four unanswered goals to begin. Its offense moved the ball effectively and ran sets that consistently had the Middlesex defense out of sorts.
