Earlier this week, Sophie Ensley, the first-year goalie for the Noble and Greenough girls lacrosse team, was walking near the school’s softball field, where she was invited to pick up a bat.
“Someone threw her a pitch and she hit it into the outfield,” said Nobles coach Brooke Asnis. “On the second pitch she hit a home run.”
Significance? While not loaded with college-committed lacrosse players, this Nobles team boasts a collective athleticism that shines through in other sports -- like softball -- and has allowed it to go 10-0, a record that includes wins against the Independent School League’s other heavyweights, Thayer and St. Mark’s.
