It was a championship worth every bit of the wait — even if the wait for a first goal Sunday lasted a lot longer than Boston College lacrosse fans would have preferred.
Down 6-0 after an empty fourth quarter, the second-seeded Eagles eventually grabbed control of the game to win their second NCAA championship, a 14-13 come-from-behind instant classic over top-seeded and defending champion Northwestern in Cary, N.C.
Kayla Martello scored five goals and senior Andrea Reynolds (Sudbury, Mass.) gave BC its first lead of the game, 12-11, early in the fourth quarter, one they would take across the finish line.
Wow.
