This past weekend I watched “Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” at a drive-in theater. My reaction was mixed (NO SPOILERS), but the concept of a multiverse where many divergent possibilities actually transpire stuck with me.
After the reveal of the Division 1 men's bracket on Sunday night, and the resulting displeasure of the lacrosse community, it occurred to me that there could be a universe where the opening rounds of the NCAA tournament could produce all-time narrative threads that would enrapture even the most cynical sports fan.
So, I decided to make that universe. Again, this is not real, just a thought exercise taken to its unnatural zenith.
