What would happen if you took the best team from one level, say Division 3 or Division 2, and moved it up and, say, stuck it in Division 1?
It’s a common question asked in sports. You see it in European soccer with the promotion and relegation system. You hear the question asked when a college football team, like Alabama, is dominating while an NFL team is losing every week by lopsided margins.
Mike Morgan has been asked this question as well. As the head coach of the Merrimack men’s lacrosse team that’s won back-to-back Division 2 national championships, he’s heard people debate how his team would do at the next level.
He’s excited to finally begin answering that question. Merrimack has moved up and, beginning in February, will be playing its first season at the Division 1 level.
