If you can't join ’em, then you might as well beat ’em. That was the attitude of the Major League Lacrosse All-Stars under the Harvard Stadium lights as Boston Cannons players Brandon Mullins and Sergio Perkovic helped lead a rally from six goals down in the fourth quarter for a 15-14 victory against the Team USA squad set to take part in this month’s 2018 FIL World Lacrosse Championship.
Many of the MLL All-Stars tried out for Team USA and didn’t make the cut, so it was a little extra satisfying when Connor Buczek scored the tying goal with 13 seconds left in regulation and former Cannons scoring star Will Manny won it in overtime.
"Everyone’s goal is to be one of the 20-something guys who get picked for Team USA," said Perkovic, who made it through the first round of Team USA cuts in the midfield. "A lot of guys on this team (the MLL All-Stars) were close, tried out, played against them during tryouts.
